A $50,000 reward is now being offered for a Miami-area man accused of participating in a $1 million robbery at a Florida jewelry store earlier this year, authorities said.
Alberto Perez-Elias is wanted by the FBI for allegedly being involved in the robbery of a Cape Coral jewelry store on January 6.
According to authorities, Perez-Elias and others entered into an empty business next to the jewelry store and busted through the wall.
Once inside the jewelry store, they held the manager at gunpoint before gaining access to a safe and stealing thousands of pieces of jewelry valued more than $1 million, according to investigators.
On June 24, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Perez-Elias, charging him with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, robbery, and the use of a firearm during and in relation to a violent crime.
Perez-Elias was born in Cuba but has ties to Miami and Hialeah, according to FBI sources.
He was reported as being 5-foot-6 and weighing 150 pounds, with birth dates of July 15, 1968, and July 12, 1972.
The FBI stated that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
