A Leesburg man was taken into custody on drug charges after attempting to run from police on his bicycle.
A deputy was traveling southbound on Citrus Boulevard in Leesburg when he noticed 21-year-old Logan Dale Adams riding a bicycle without lights at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
After catching up with Adams, the deputy activated his emergency lights for a traffic stop. Adams turned, raised his hand to acknowledge the deputy, and started to slow down. According to the allegation, he then reversed direction and returned westbound on North Shore Drive toward Citrus Boulevard.
The deputy turned around to pursue Adams, who noticed the patrol vehicle approaching and started pedaling faster. To avoid the officer, he did many U-turns and turned into other locations. The deputy used his PA system several times to tell him to stop, but he didn’t, according to the report.
Adams ran for three to four minutes before turning back onto North Shore Drive. He went past Marshall Drive, eventually surrendering and being arrested. The report stated that he was subsequently searched.
In the front left pocket of his sweatpants found a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana. He donned a black bag that contained a variety of items, including rings, earrings, watches, bracelets, and necklaces, as well as a can of black spray paint, two knives, lighters, and several types of loose ammo. According to the report, a baggie and a glass bulb-style pipe tested positive for methamphetamine.
Adams’ criminal history revealed earlier offenses for fleeing law enforcement, grand theft, and possession of prohibited narcotics. He pled no contest to all charges, but adjudication was withheld, according to the report.
Adams faced charges of fleeing or eluding police, possessing methamphetamine, possessing marijuana (less than 20 grams), and possessing narcotics paraphernalia. He was booked into the Lake County Jail and bond was set at $7,000.
He was also detained in April 2025 with a narcotics rucksack outside a Leesburg hotel and in February 2025 while riding a stolen electric bicycle.
