A 39-year-old man in Livingston County, Michigan, used the money he earned from selling cans to purchase a winning $500,000 scratch-off lottery ticket.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Michigan Lottery that he has a Sunday ritual of returning used cans for money and then spending the money on lottery tickets.
The winning ticket for the Stampede Payout game was purchased at a CVS in South Lyon.
“Later that night, after dinner, I sat down to scratch the tickets. When I realized I had won $500,000, I began yelling and leaping up and down! I tried to scan the ticket on the app afterward, but my hands were shaking so much that it didn’t scan until later,” the man stated in a statement to the Michigan Lottery.
The man also stated that having financial freedom feels fantastic and that he plans to utilize the money to pay off his house, go on vacation, and take his buddies out to dinner.
Lottery players in Michigan have won more than $4 million playing the Stampede Payout scratch off game.
