2 people hurt After Van Strikes Pole In Nanjemoy, One Trapped

Two people were hurt Wednesday afternoon when a van collided with a utility pole on Bowie Road in Nanjemoy.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 9100 block of Bowie Road shortly after 2:25 p.m. on September 2, 2026.

Initial reports claimed that a van had collided with a pole. A male occupant was able to exit the vehicle and was seen walking around the scene with injuries to his face and head.

Firefighters later confirmed that an elderly woman was trapped inside the passenger side of the van. Crews successfully extricated her from the vehicle soon before 3 p.m. Both Following the crash, the patients were aware, attentive, and breathing, and they were transported to EMS for treatment.

Emergency communications later identified the patients as an 83-year-old male and a 73-year-old lady. Both were taken by ambulance to MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s trauma center as Priority 2 patients.

The events leading up to the crash have not been revealed.

Motorists traveling through the area were advised to exercise caution while emergency personnel worked on the scene.
