3 people detained after disturbance at bowling alley

Two men and a juvenile were detained late Saturday after an altercation at a bowling alley involving a gun.

According to a release, police were called to Lang’s Bowlarama on Niantic Ave. approximately 10:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a person armed with a gun.

The caller informed officers that the suspect “had a handgun inside a white backpack and had made statements indicating he intended to harm someone inside the bowling alley.”

When authorities got on the scene, they were able to identify the suspect, Jayden Rodriguez, 19, of Cranston, based on the description provided by the caller.

Police then contacted Rodriguez, who informed them that there was a gun inside his backpack.

As cops sought to take Rodriguez into jail, a fight broke out.

Police stated other persons accompanying Rodriguez obstructed and assaulted officers as they attempted to make the arrest.

The Rhode Island State Police and Providence Police Department were also dispatched to aid the Cranston officers.

The firearm, which was loaded, was reported stolen from South Carolina.

Rodriguez was detained and charged for the following:

License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol
Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Modification of a Semi-Automatic Weapon
Disorderly Conduct
Resisting Legal/Illegal Arrest

Rodriguez was arraigned by a justice of the peace and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions Intake Center.

A 19-year-old male from Woonsocket was arrested and accused of the following:

Disorderly Conduct
Resisting Legal/Illegal Arrest
Obstructing an Officer in Execution of Duty

He was arraigned by a justice of the peace and then freed.

A 16-year-old boy from Massachusetts was also arrested in connection with the disturbance but later released to his parents. The kid has been charged with:

Disorderly Conduct
Resisting Legal/Illegal Arrest
Obstructing an Officer in Execution of Duty

Their support helped our officers safely bring this incident under control.”
