A body was discovered floating in the beach waters of San Diego, California, over the weekend. The body has already been identified.
Former NCAA women’s soccer star Bryn Waite was discovered dead. Her body was discovered “floating in the waters of La Jolla Shores Beach on Wednesday morning after a bystander spotted her body and alerted the San Diego Police Department,” according to the California Post.
“She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of death has not been identified. Waite, originally from Anchorage, Alaska, played Division 2 women’s soccer at Central Washington University in 2018 and 2019, according to her web profile,” the California Post continued.
It’s unclear what caused Waite’s death, but there have been a number of ocean deaths in the United States this year, since people frequently swim late at night or during inappropriate hours.
She is the second former NCAA athlete discovered deceased in the San Diego, California beach waves. Summer Nash, 34, a former volleyball player for San Diego State University and Florida International University who later became a coach at multiple schools, was discovered dead floating in the lake.
