1 killed in rear-end collision near Dead Man’s Curve

A pickup truck driver has died after reportedly rear-ending a semi-truck at Dead Man’s Curve early Thursday, July 23.

According to Cleveland police detectives, the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 90 between Dead Man’s Curve and the East 55th Street exit.

The man was driving east on the interstate in his pickup truck when he collided with the back of another eastbound semi-truck. According to the announcement, speed is thought to have been a factor in the incident.

According to the announcement, the pickup truck bounced off the semi and collided with an SUV, forcing both to slam into a guardrail. The pickup truck flipped numerous times.

The pickup truck driver, a 42-year-old man, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The pickup truck’s passenger, a 40-year-old man, and the SUV’s driver, a 22-year-old woman, were both taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The semi-truck driver appeared to be uninjured.

Cleveland police accident investigators are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
