A 20-year-old woman was killed Wednesday after being struck by an SUV when her car crashed and became inoperable on Interstate 5 in San Diego.

The incident happened around 1:12 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-5, just south of Washington Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old woman was driving an Infiniti and carrying a 20-year-old passenger when she lost control and collided with the concrete center divider.
