1 of 2 suspects in deadly Canton shooting detained

Canton Police announced Thursday morning that they had detained one of the two suspects involved in the shooting that killed a 19-year-old man.

In connection with Jordan A. Horton’s shooting death, police arrested Canton resident Jason L. Singletary, 25, for complicity to commit murder, felonious assault, and discharge of a firearm on or near a forbidden property.

He was booked into Stark County Jail at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to a Canton Police statement, about 7 a.m. on July 14, a 911 call was received reporting a man’s body in a parking lot in the 900 block of Alan Page Dr. SE.

When officers and paramedics arrived, they discovered 19-year-old Horton with a gunshot wound in the lower back.

Savheon R. Monroe, 16, of Canton, is still at large after being charged with murder, felonious assault, and discharging a firearm on or near a forbidden premises.
