8 people arrested during Argentina-Cape Verde match at Miami Stadium

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and Miami Police detained eight people during Friday’s FIFA World Cup match between Argentina and Cape Verde at Miami Stadium, according to police.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, five of the six individuals were detained on felony counts of interfering with a sporting event.

According to investigators, Sweetwater resident Delfina Degui, 23, acknowledged to using someone else’s credentials to access the stadium before the gates opened.

Jefferson Honorio Da Silva, 41, is suspected by authorities of attempting to enter with forged tickets. Investigators said that after being denied admittance, he returned and unlocked a fence to gain access to a restricted area before being apprehended and turned over to deputies by security.

Deputies claimed 21-year-old Miami Beach resident Juan Capote Garcia slipped past security without a ticket and was apprehended as he exited a restroom.

Authorities also arrested Nicolas Pino and Julian Daud, who were identified as New York-based admirers. According to investigators, the pair passed through three tiers of security before being apprehended.

Nicolas Rieck, 35, faces two misdemeanor charges. Deputies claimed he was escorted from the stadium for unruly behavior, then resisted and was arrested.
