Chicago pair charged following $2,200 Lululemon theft ends in Dan Ryan collision: officials

A man and a woman have been charged after police say they stole over $2,200 in products from a Chicago Lululemon store before crashing their vehicle while fleeing police.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office reported a theft on June 3 at the Lululemon store at 932 W. Randolph St.

According to investigators, a man and a woman entered the store together, with the man allegedly removing a tote bag from inside his jeans. The two then packed the bag with stuff and drove out in a white Volkswagen Tiguan without paying.

Using vehicle and license plate information provided by Lululemon employees, officers located the SUV and began following it from a distance.

According to authorities, when the vehicle joined the Dan Ryan Expressway, the driver suddenly accelerated and began changing lanes erratically. The SUV later collided with a box truck on the freeway.

Officers rushed to the crash scene and offered medical help to the occupants who refused treatment.

The suspects were identified as Phillip Todd, 46, and Jazmine Nooner, 30, both of Chicago.

Investigators discovered the stolen items inside the vehicle. The things were worth more than $2,200, according to investigators.

Todd and Nooner were both charged with felony retail theft. Todd was also charged with driving without a valid license and failing to indicate when changing lanes.

After their initial court appearances, both suspects were ordered freed from detention on June 4.
