Wanted man apprehended at City Fire outdoor bar after anonymous tip

A wanted man was apprehended while sitting in the outdoor bar of a popular restaurant in The Villages.

James Ralph Rayborn, 68, of Steinhatchee, was arrested around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at City Fire in Brownwood Paddock Square.

According to the Wildwood Police Department’s arrest record, an anonymous tipster contacted the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office to report that a man with an outstanding warrant was hanging out at the restaurant’s outdoor bar area. Dispatchers checked Rayborn’s name and date of birth against a nationwide database and discovered an active warrant for his arrest out of Marion County.

When officers arrived, they could readily see Rayborn was sitting at the bar. He was placed in handcuffs without incident.

According to the report, the active Marion County warrant was for contempt of court for violating a domestic violence order. Rayborn originally resided in Summerfield.

Rayborn was transferred to the Sumter County Detention Center and booked on the out-of-county warrant. He is currently being held without a bond.
