A judge released the mother of a 5-year-old girl killed in a Florida City home shooting from jail Thursday after authorities arrested her on an unrelated charge.
Officers arrested Ashley Marie Hosendove, 32, on an outstanding warrant for disorderly conduct stemming from a March incident, court records showed.
An arrest affidavit stated that officers charged Hosendove after they took her boyfriend into custody for battery, prompting her to shout and scream profanities at them.
During Thursday’s hearing, a judge asked Hosendove why she missed hearings scheduled for April 28 and June 2.
Hosendove said she’d dealt with a family issue and had logged into a Zoom call late.
The judge set her bond at $1,500, and when she left jail Thursday night, she declined to answer questions about the shooting.
Authorities had arrested Hosendove Wednesday, just hours after someone shot and killed her 5-year-old daughter, Ja’nova Parks.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Florida City Police arrived at the home in the 1400 block of Northwest 1st Court after receiving reports of a shooting shortly before 2 a.m.
Officers found Parks shot in the torso and brought her and Hosendove to Homestead Baptist Hospital before airlifting her to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Det. Angel Rodriguez said three adults and two children, including the girl’s 4-year-old brother, were in the home at the time of the shooting.
Investigators are working to determine how the girl ended up shot, including whether she accidentally shot herself or someone else shot her.
