Akron man sentenced to life in prison for deadly shooting at party

A Summit County judge has sentenced an Akron resident, convicted of fatally shooting a man during a skirmish at a party in 2025, to life in prison.

Martinez Williams, 32, will be eligible for parole after spending 21 years, Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich announced in a statement. A jury last week found Williams guilty of murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and having a weapon under disability for the death of Ontario Bradley.

“The grief of losing a child, a friend, and a family member is unimaginable, and our condolences remain with Ontario Bradley’s loved ones,” Kolkovich added. “Today’s sentence cannot bring Ontario back, but I hope it brings those who loved him some closure.”

According to prosecutors, Williams attended a small event in May 2025 at an apartment building on Darrow Road. He attempted to aggressively remove a person from the party.

Bradley, 24, tried to intervene, and Williams fired his gun twice—hitting Bradley once. Bradley was brought to Akron City Hospital and died of his wounds.

Williams escaped the party but was recognized by an eyewitness. Williams turned himself in to police the next day and confessed to shooting Bradley and disposing of the firearm, prosecutors said.
