Rowan County Death Investigation Launched After Man Found Dead in Vehicle on I-64

Rowan County authorities are investigating a death after a man was discovered dead inside a vehicle on I-64 early Thursday morning, according to the coroner’s office.

The Rowan County Coroner’s Office reported that a welfare check was called in around 5:00 a.m. Thursday for an individual sitting on the shoulder of westbound I-64 near the Farmers Sharkey exit.

The sheriff’s office responded to the location, where deputies found a man unresponsive inside a vehicle.

The coroner’s office pronounced the man dead at the scene, and an investigation into the death is currently underway.
