A man who was illegally in the nation was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for possessing meth with the intent to distribute and possessing a short-barreled weapon for narcotics trafficking purposes.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nebraska announced on May 19 that Alexi Zamora-Chona, 30, had been sentenced to 192 months in prison.
There is no parole in the federal system. After his release from prison, he will undergo a four-year period of supervised release.
On November 21, 2024, DEA officers and local law police executed a search warrant at the Omaha home of Zamora-Chona and his co-defendant, Octavio Zamora-Chona.
Agents seized more than 30 pounds of methamphetamine, five guns, and more than $19,000 cash.
One of the weapons was a short-barrel rifle. Zamora-Chona claimed ownership of the firearms and said that he was aware of the methamphetamine at his home.
On February 13, Octavio Zamora-Chona, 39, was sentenced to 180 months in jail for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
The seized money and weaponry will be forfeited to the United States.
