Police: Mass. man arrested after stabbing 2 men with broken beer bottle

A 33-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after stabbing two men with a broken beer bottle in a Brockton apartment, according to police.

Mexil Wawens, a Brockton resident, faces two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident, according to a Brockton police spokesperson.

Officers arrived at a basement-level apartment at 205 Pleasant St. around 2 a.m. after receiving reports of a suspected shooting, according to the spokeswoman. They discovered two individuals with stab wounds consistent with an assault with a broken beer bottle.

According to the spokeswoman, paramedics transported both guys to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officers concluded that no gunshots were fired during the incident.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. No other information has been shared.
