Southern Kentucky man indicted on child abuse and kidnapping charges

A Somerset man has been indicted on multiple felony charges related to the physical abuse of an adult and a minor child, according to Sheriff Bobby Jones.

Davin Melton, 24, was charged with criminal abuse in the first degree of a child under the age of 12, kidnapping of an adult, second-degree stalking, and first-degree wanton endangerment.

The accusations result from an investigation that began on October 1, 2025, when the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received a complaint alleging child abuse. Detective Jay Picard of Crimes Against Children was tasked with conducting the investigation.

During the inquiry, Picard obtained new evidence, which led to multiple accusations.

Picard presented the facts and evidence to the Pulaski Grand Jury on April 8. Melton was arrested without incident on April 16 and booked into the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond. He posted bond on the same day.
