LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a box truck and leading police on a pursuit into southern Indiana.
According to Clarksville Police, the incident began around 10 a.m. Saturday when Clark County dispatchers were alerted by Louisville Metro Police about a stolen box truck taken from Norton Cancer Institute.
Authorities said the vehicle was being tracked electronically and was believed to be heading toward Clarksville.
An officer located the truck and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver — identified as Christopher Spencer — refused to pull over and fled into the south end of Clarksville.
Police said officers deployed tire deflation devices shortly after the pursuit began.
Spencer continued driving until reaching a dead end on Harrison Avenue. Investigators said he attempted to drive the truck off-road but became stuck while trying to climb a floodwall.
Officers reported that Spencer refused to follow commands, prompting a Jeffersonville Police K9 handler to deploy a police dog into the vehicle.
He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Spencer faces multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement, criminal mischief, criminal recklessness, and reckless driving.
He is currently being held at the Clark County Jail awaiting arraignment.
