The church said everyone is welcome, whether arriving by car or on foot.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A local church made Ash Wednesday more accessible by setting up a drive-thru for ashes.
St. Andrew United Church of Christ on Browns Lane opened the drive-thru from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with plans to reopen from 5-6 p.m.
“It’s a chance for folks who have maybe been out of church for a while or aren’t connected to a congregation or maybe aren’t connected to the Catholic tradition to come by and as part of the Protestant Church, be a part of this imposition of ashes, which is a reminder of how finite life is and how precious life is,” said Associate Pastor Emma Loane.
Church leaders said the event is open to anyone, whether they drive up or walk in. This year marks the 11th time St. Andrew has hosted the drive-thru.
