MAYFIELD, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) announced plans to conduct traffic safety and sobriety checkpoints across the Post 1 district as part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and improve public safety.

According to KSP, the checkpoints will focus on identifying vehicle equipment deficiencies and verifying driver compliance, including valid driver’s licenses, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Officers will also be monitoring for impaired driving.

In a release, KSP said traffic safety checkpoints provide an opportunity to concentrate enforcement efforts on violations of Kentucky traffic laws while helping reduce crashes and improve roadway safety. Drivers approaching checkpoints are asked to have their license, registration, and insurance readily available.

KSP noted that motorists who are in compliance with the law should expect minimal delays, typically lasting only a few minutes.

Checkpoint operations will take place in the following counties:

  • Ballard

  • Calloway

  • Carlisle

  • Fulton

  • Graves

  • Hickman

  • Livingston

  • Lyon

  • McCracken

  • Marshall

  • Trigg

State police encourage drivers to plan accordingly and remind the public that these checkpoints are conducted with the goal of keeping Kentucky’s roads safe for everyone.
