LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Gas & Electric (LG&E) has 1,000 field workers ready to assist customers in case of power outages during the upcoming winter storm.

LG&E says it has upgraded infrastructure to better handle wind and ice, installed advanced meters to pinpoint outages, and automated systems to quickly reroute power.

“Our crews have been here before. They know what we’re up against,” said Drew Gardner of LG&E. He added that while snow is manageable, wind and ice are the biggest threats.

Louisville Water Company crews are also prepared to repair broken water mains. Spokesperson Kelley Dearing Smith reminded residents that most water issues are due to frozen plumbing on private property and advised homeowners to locate their water shutoff valves.
