LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville woman is facing murder and robbery charges following a fatal shooting at a McDonald’s on New Year’s Eve.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Shoshanha Jones, 39, charging her with murder, first-degree robbery and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, according to court records.

Police said the shooting happened Dec. 31 in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on East Market Street. Investigators say the incident began when a child accidentally hit Jones’ car with a door. Jones allegedly became upset, leading the child’s mother, Lorainne Peña Bolaño, to intervene.

Court records state that Mayra Rodriguez Muñoz, a passenger in the vehicle, attempted to calm the situation before Jones allegedly shot her in the chest. Muñoz later died from her injuries.

Police also allege that Peña Bolaño tried to record the confrontation on her phone, which Jones forcibly took before leaving the scene. Investigators identified Jones as a suspect after her identification was found near a shell casing, according to police.

Jones appeared in court Wednesday, where her attorney requested a reduction of her $500,000 bond, arguing Jones voluntarily surrendered and claiming the individuals involved were young adults nearing 18. Prosecutors sought a $1 million bond, but the judge denied the request and kept bond at $500,000.

The judge also ordered Jones to have no contact with any McDonald’s locations or the victims’ families. She is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 26.
