LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A parcel of land in southeast Louisville is set to become a multifamily apartment complex.

The property at 6512 Billtown Road, near the Gene Snyder Freeway just outside Fern Creek, was purchased by Toronto-based Highgates Group for $925,000, according to Louisville Business First.

Joseph Waldman, founder and CEO of Highgates, said the plan is to build a “garden-style apartment complex” featuring three-story buildings with surface parking.

The project is still in the planning phase and requires additional zoning approvals. Waldman said he chose the location because the area has a shortage of apartments.

“There’s a need for diversity of housing, and I really believe that it’s going to be a tremendous success for the neighborhood and for the people and for Highgates,” he said.

Highgates has several other developments in Louisville and southern Indiana, including the 5604 Apartments, Cedar Creek Flats in Fern Creek, Glengrove Apartments in Valley Station, Lancaster Lofts in New Albany, and The Villages at Floyds Fork.
