LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — U.S. Marshals helped locate an endangered missing child in Knox County Thursday night.

Louisville Metro Police contacted the Marshals regarding a missing 13-year-old girl and a wanted individual, 37-year-old Michael Dunn, both from Louisville.

The child was reported missing on January 4 and was believed to be with Dunn, a non-custodial adult.

Dunn had multiple outstanding warrants dating back to June 2025, including Escape – 2nd Degree, Tampering with a Prisoner Monitoring Device, Probation Violations for Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was also believed to be armed and involved in narcotics trafficking.

Marshals received a tip that the pair were walking southbound on the 3100 block of US-25E in Barbourville, Kentucky.

Both were confronted, and Dunn was taken into custody without incident. The 13-year-old was also safely recovered.

Authorities recovered two handguns, marijuana, methamphetamine, and other drug paraphernalia at the scene.

Dunn was taken to Knox County Detention Center on his existing warrants, with additional charges pending.
