LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Louisville Metro Police announced Tuesday morning that officers arrested a Virginia fugitive and charged him in connection with an October shooting that left another man severely injured.

Court records state that on Oct. 18, 59-year-old Clarence McCutchen allegedly argued with another man, broke into his apartment, and claimed the man owed him money.

Authorities said the victim fled to the kitchen, where McCutchen allegedly shot him twice in the back. Emergency crews took the victim to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the victim identified McCutchen as the shooter from a photo pack. They also learned McCutchen had previous felony convictions and an active arrest warrant in Virginia.

McCutchen now faces charges of first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, along with charges related to the Virginia warrant.

Court records confirm he pleaded not guilty Tuesday morning. Officers booked him into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $100,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Dec. 17.
