Bicyclist killed after being hit by truck in Kentucky

KENTUCKY — A 62-year-old man from Leitchfield died Monday evening after a box truck struck him while he was riding his bicycle, authorities reported.

Bobby W. Basham was traveling south on the 2500 block of Brandenburg Road around 7:30 p.m. when the collision occurred, according to the Grayson County Coroner’s Office. Coroner Kevin Pharis pronounced him dead at the scene.

Leitchfield Fire Chief told K105 that Basham was not wearing reflectors, and his bicycle lacked active reflectors.

The crash was investigated by the Leitchfield Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Emergency Management, and EMS. The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the Leitchfield Police Department.
