Leslie Caudill Turner, wife of missing Union High School football coach Travis Turner, has spoken publicly about his disappearance, asking for prayers for her husband.
Turner, 46, has been missing since last week. Virginia State Police confirmed that multiple law enforcement agencies are actively searching for him. Authorities were on their way to Turner’s home last Thursday as part of an investigation but discovered he was not there. He was last seen entering the woods near his home, wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and glasses.
His sudden absence raised concerns about his health and safety, as his team was preparing for a playoff game. The Bears remain undefeated this season.
Turner’s wife took to Facebook on Saturday to confirm his disappearance and request continued prayers. “As of right now, 10:25 PM on Friday night, Travis is missing, & that’s all we know,” she wrote. “We love him & need him here with us. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love & support. It means more than you know. Just keep praying that he comes home.”
Authorities clarified that they are not seeking to arrest Turner. Virginia State Police officer Jason Day told WJHL that drones and K-9 units have been deployed in the search, though helicopters could not be used on Saturday due to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, Wise County school officials said an unidentified employee was placed on leave as part of an external investigation.
