LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man’s routine lottery stop turned into a life-changing moment when he won $250,000 from a $10 Kentucky Lottery Wild Cash 100X scratch-off.

According to the Kentucky Lottery, the man — who chose to remain anonymous — had just finished work when he stopped at the Circle K at 5035 Mud Lane to buy his weekly ticket.

After scratching the ticket, he scanned it in the store and said he went into “full panic mode” upon realizing he’d matched the number 33 on the top row, winning the game’s top prize.

Wanting a second opinion, he rushed home to show his wife. Once she confirmed the win, the couple began jumping up and down in excitement.

Their next thought was to secure the ticket immediately rather than wait until after the weekend.

“I was like, don’t tell the kids. Nobody needs to know. Let’s get out of here. We’re running downtown,” he said.

After taxes, the couple took home $180,000 and said the winnings will help relieve financial pressure and support their family’s goals.

The Circle K store received a $2,500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

In 2025, the Kentucky Lottery awarded over $1.6 billion in prizes, with proceeds helping fund scholarships and grants for more than one million Kentucky college students.
