LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A section of Bardstown Road was closed to cars this weekend for the return of CycLOUvia.

The stretch between Grinstead Drive and Douglass Loop was open only to walking, biking, skating, and playing during Sunday afternoon.

CycLOUvia is an annual event that temporarily transforms some of Louisville’s most popular streets into car-free zones. The goal is to promote healthy activity, support local businesses, and bring neighbors together.

Attendee Elise Timmons said, “It feels so community-based but also, like, I’m skateboarding down and little kids will be like ‘woah, that’s a tiny little skateboard’ — that makes me smile.”

The free event is organized by the Louisville Metro Department of Transportation, which said it showcases how city streets can be shared in creative and safe ways.
