HENDERSON, Ky. – The Green River District Health Department confirmed a death from the West Nile Virus in Kentucky.

Officials could not share details out of respect for the family and patient privacy, but confirmed the fatality occurred within the state.

Health authorities also reported 19 West Nile Virus cases statewide so far, compared to an average of seven cases in previous years. Of those, three cases have been in Daviess County and two in Henderson County.
