Missing Utah teen located in Oregon after over a year; man arrested

The FBI announced Monday that officials had located a Utah teen who had been missing for more than a year and arrested the 39-year-old man she was with.

The FBI Salt Lake City stated it cooperated with Utah and Oregon law enforcement to locate the youngster after she vanished from Garden City, Utah, in May 2025. While the FBI did not reveal the teen’s name, the details match those of a missing individual reported by NewsNation local station KTVX.

The FBI stated that officials discovered the teen with the adult male in Oregon and apprehended him “without incident.” Officials did not disclose any details regarding the charges against him or where the two were discovered by state investigators.

In a statement, FBI Director Kash Patel linked the teen’s disappearance to “gore groups.” According to the Department of Homeland Security, these cyber networks use violence to coerce vulnerable adolescents.

“To anyone who uses gore groups to target and exploit children, the FBI and our partners are coming after you,” Patel added. “We are using every tool at our disposal to combat nihilistic violent extremism, bring offenders to justice, and protect America’s children.”
