Driver taken into custody for DUI after chain-reaction crashes in Orange County, troopers say

A driver was taken into custody for DUI early Sunday morning after a series of chain-reaction incidents on northbound State Road 417 at Mile Marker 30.

According to troopers, the initial incident occurred around 12:30 a.m., when a blue Ford F-150 lost control on the wet roadway and collided with a guardrail, causing many following crashes involving other vehicles.

According to police, officers arrived about 1:15 a.m. and discovered a commotion involving the driver, Aden Martinez, and somebody identifying himself as Martinez’s father.

The officer reported seeing the father restrain Martinez, who was described as hostile, screaming, and looking inebriated.

Martinez was detained and placed in a patrol car after allegedly resisting attempts to place him inside. Orange County Fire Rescue examined him for minor lacerations received during the altercation.

Martinez was arrested for DUI. At the Orange County Breath Testing Center, he gave two breath samples that registered 0.205 and 0.201.

Additional information about the initial incident and subsequent crashes has not been disclosed.
