An Alabama native who has never had a driver’s license was detained following a traffic stop near the Jeffrey Gate on the Historic Side of The Villages.
Christie Heather Renee Kirby, 31, of Weirsdale, was driving a blue Chevrolet Cruze at around 8:28 p.m. An officer spotted her run a stop sign at the junction of Rolling Acres Road and Griffin Avenue on Sunday, Oct. 11, according to a Lady Lake Police Department arrest report.
When the officer pulled her over, Kirby presented a Florida identity card. A database check revealed that she did not have a driver’s license and had never had one issued. The officer also determined that she had a previous conviction in Alabama in 2023 for driving without a license.
Kirby was arrested on charges of driving without a license for the second or subsequent infraction. She was placed into the Lake County Jail on a $500 bond.
