Three people sustained injuries after a motor vehicle crash on River Road, the North Tonawanda Police Department said Tuesday.
Around 10 a.m., police rushed to the area of River and Ward roads after receiving a report of a rollover motor vehicle crash. An investigation revealed that a 62-year-old man was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on River Road at excessive speeds when he lost control of the car.
According to police, the car exited the road and struck a light pole before reentering and colliding with a 2023 Honda Ridgeline driving northbound on River Road.
Officials reported the Honda rolled over numerous times, injuring three people inside. The occupants were taken to local hospitals. According to police, one of the occupants may have suffered significant injuries.
The driver of the Malibu remained on the scene and is cooperating with the inquiry. The North Tonawanda Accident Investigation Team is examining the event. According to police, charges will be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
