Officials say a death investigation is underway after a convicted child rapist from Lancaster County was discovered unresponsive in his cell at SCI Huntingdon.
According to the Department of Corrections, prison staff discovered Geraldo Maldonado Jr., 43, in his cell on Monday.
According to investigators, despite attempts to save his life, Maldonado was pronounced dead at Penn Highlands Hospital.
According to authorities, he was serving a 24 to 52-year prison sentence for sexually abusing many young children.
The Pennsylvania State Police and the Huntingdon County Coroner’s Office are in charge of the death investigation.
