Teen severely injured after fight in Altoona, 2 brothers charged

Two brothers are facing charges in connection with a brawl at an Altoona park that left one teenager in the hospital.

Jay Seville, 20, was charged with two first-degree felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony crime of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, and several misdemeanor charges.

Dakota Robert Seville, 21, faces first-degree felony charges of conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, as well as minor offenses.

On August 31, Altoona police responded to a report of a youngster being beaten up near Juniata Memorial Park on West 12th Avenue. According to the criminal complaint, witnesses allege that another juvenile approached the victim and punched him twice in the face before scooping him up and smashing him to the ground.

The victim became unconscious after being slammed. A witness then saw a man, subsequently identified as Jay, remove the victim’s fanny pack before leaving with the kid.

During an interview with police, the adolescent allegedly stated that he went to the park after learning that the victim had a pistol and was threatening to shoot others. Following the altercation, Jay allegedly removed the victim’s fanny pack, which contained the previously described gun.

During an interview with police, Jay stated Dakota drove him and two other people to the park to play basketball, and they had been there for about 30 minutes before the brawl started. Jay denied knowing the kid intended to attack the victim; nevertheless, after learning the victim may have had a pistol, he claimed he took the fanny pack, according to the criminal complaint.

According to Jay, they discovered what seemed to be a BB pistol inside the fanny pack and then dropped the bag into the creek. According to court filings, police found a fanny pack near West 12th Avenue but not the BB gun. The fanny pack included a phone charger and a vape, according to the affidavit.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim’s mother said that her son had a skull fracture that resulted in a brain bleed, as well as a fractured arm, a broken toe, and damage to his left eye.

The Seville brothers are being held at Blair County Prison pending a preliminary hearing on October 7. Jay’s bail was set at $50,000, and Dakota’s bail was set at 10% of $30,000.
