An Orlando woman was taken into custody for poisoning a Central Florida man.
After local authorities discovered that she had purposefully poisoned a Central Florida man, potentially multiple times, investigators from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested the Orlando woman.
Samantha Adams, 39, was detained at the Posner Park retail mall in Davenport after agreeing to meet with the victim there. When she arrived in the parking lot, officers moved quickly to box in her vehicle and arrest the suspect.
According to the arrest complaint, Adams purposefully mixed benzodiazepine into the victim’s drink while at home in Haines City. The victim said that she had poisoned him at least three more times at her Orange County home.
PCSO officers launched an inquiry when the 69-year-old victim reported an unexpected medical episode. The victim stated that he was admitted to a hospital last month and that he believed there were odd circumstances surrounding his medical condition.
The victim first met the suspect on a dating app and knew her only as Nala. Detectives were eventually able to identify her as Samantha Adams, according to PCSO.
According to the victim, he got into a fight with Adams over a car he had bought for her. Adams went to the kitchen after their argument, clutching her pocketbook. She returned to the victim with two glasses of alcohol. He sipped from one of the glasses, and things became amorous. The victim stated that the intimacy increased, then Adams abruptly ended it and stated that he would need to pay her $1,000 to continue. Adams departed after the victim declined.
Later in the evening, the victim passed unconscious and was transported to the hospital. Medical personnel determined that he had overdosed on benzodiazepines, but the victim stated that he had none.
The cops also discovered that someone interfered with the victim’s home security system. The victim stated that he spotted Adams near the area of his home where the security system is installed.
The victim reportedly informed authorities that he had experienced additional odd situations after drinking a shot with Adams at her Orlando home. He claimed that after drinking at her house, he felt shaky and fell and that he passed out in his vehicle as he drove away. He also described an instance in which he left Adams’ home and backed into a car while sleepy. According to the victim, he only drank a modest quantity on each occasion.
When Adams was apprehended, she was in possession of a prescription bottle (prescribed to someone else) containing 19 pills of hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 2.5 pills of oxycodone hydrochloride, 9 pills of sertraline, 1 partial pill of Adderall, and 1 partial pill of alprazolam/Xanax.
“It’s possible that Samantha Adams has victimized more people,” stated Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. “Her motivation is money, and as we have seen with this case, she is willing to go to great lengths to get money—including murder.”
Samantha Adams was charged with second-degree attempted murder, tampering with evidence, possession of oxycodone, hydrocodone, and alprazolam, resisting without violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of New Legend Drug without a prescription, and offering to commit prostitution.
