A scammer was caught in Central Florida after taking $8,000 from the victim.
Someone impersonating her bank contacted the 74-year-old victim, instructing her to withdraw $8,000 for courier pickup.
After realizing she had been duped, the victim contacted police authorities and gave the courier’s tag number to Volusia Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Leven, who was able to locate the drop-off location.
According to local law officials, surveillance video captured the courier transferring the item to Jamaican citizen Amoye Jameison, 25.
According to local law enforcement, the fraud victim’s prompt action and the quick response of Volusia County deputies resulted in the recovery of $8,000.
According to local law authorities, Amoye Jamieson was charged with organized scheme to defraud and grand theft and is being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail. ICE was contacted because Jameison was in the country on an expired visa.
