Four noncitizens have been charged with election-related crimes, including illegally voting in 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The allegations come weeks after the US Department of Homeland Security claimed that more than 14,000 noncitizens had fraudulently registered to vote in Pennsylvania.
According to the DOJ, Dilea Ochoa-Perez, 43, is accused of fraudulently voting in Chester County in 2022 and 2024. She is not a US citizen and could face up to two years in jail if convicted.
Eduardo Gallardo Maldonado, 66, voted unlawfully in Philadelphia County in 2024, according to the Department of Justice. If convicted, he faces a one-year prison sentence.
Sade Guppy, 37, allegedly voted fraudulently in Philadelphia County in 2022. If convicted, Guppy faces one year in jail, according to the Department of Justice.
Cliff Sanon, 39, is suspected of submitting eight false voter registration applications and voting in 2022 despite not being a United States citizen. The Department of Justice stated that if convicted, he may face up to five years in jail.
The Pennsylvania Department of State previously stated that “noncitizen voting is extremely rare across the country,” contradicting the figures presented by DHS.
