A Wildwood man with a revoked license was apprehended after being stopped with meth and fentanyl.
At 4:15 p.m. Thursday, an officer noticed 34-year-old Nathan Alan Stafford driving a green Dodge pickup truck westbound on Lady Lake Boulevard, according to the Lady Lake Police Department’s arrest report.
As the police approached, the vehicle tapped its brakes several times and made a sharp turn. The police then stopped the vehicle near High Avenue, where Stafford admitted he did not have a license since he was a repeat traffic offender. According to the report, a check of his driving history revealed that his license was canceled for 60 months on April 20, 2022.
Stafford was then detained in handcuffs. He refused permission for police authorities to examine his vehicle, but a K-9 unit’s positive alert to the stench of narcotics meant it would be searched anyhow. According to the report, officers recovered 2.78 grams of methamphetamine, 0.6 grams of fentanyl, many sliced red straws with residue, and burnt foil containing methamphetamine.
The cops also searched Stafford, finding another red sliced straw and a fragment of a pen with residue in his short pockets, according to the report.
Stafford was detained on fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia possession charges, as well as driving with a revoked license (habit). He was booked into the Lake County Jail and released after posting a $8,500 bond.
He was also arrested in October 2021 for violating a court order, in September 2021 for brawling with his girlfriend at Circle K, and in February 2020 for attempting to falsify a urine test
