Villager detained after domestic brawl over her drinking

A villager was detained on a violence charge following a domestic altercation that was allegedly prompted by an argument about her drinking.

Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Carolyn Jean Skinner, 61, on Thursday night. Deputies were dispatched to a neighbourhood residence—whose exact location was redacted from the arrest report—in response to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies met with a male victim, who stated that he and Skinner had a verbal disagreement over her “having a drinking problem”. The victim reported that the disagreement worsened as it progressed.

According to the arrest report, the Chicago native became upset and belligerent as the debate grew more heated. The victim said to deputies that Skinner kicked him twice in the chest and stomach. She then shoved him and punched him on the left side of the face with a closed hand.

While chatting with Skinner, a deputy noticed she appeared inebriated and had a strong stench of alcohol on her breath. The investigation revealed that she was the main aggressor.

Skinner was arrested for minor domestic violence. She was booked into Sumter County Detention Centre and released after posting a $50 bond.
