A Springfield man wanted on felony charges in Tennessee was busted Saturday evening during a traffic check in Bellefontaine.
According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, at 7:42 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, an officer was driving westbound on East Sandusky Avenue when he noticed a black Saturn Vue stopped in the eastbound lane.
After turning around to investigate, the officer noticed the vehicle begin to move and attempted a traffic stop when it turned into the Speedway gas station at the intersection of North Hayes Street and East Sandusky Avenue.
The driver informed investigators that he and his girlfriend were delivering groceries for Walmart.
When asked about his driver’s licence, the driver stated that he did not have it with him and instead gave his Social Security number.
A records check revealed that the driver was 44-year-old Anthony Morgan of Springfield.
Morgan was wanted on an out-of-state warrant from Shelby County, Tennessee, with complete extradition granted.
Officers took Morgan out of the vehicle and held him while dispatch confirmed the warrant.
Morgan was apprehended peacefully after receiving confirmation.
Morgan was transferred to the Logan County Jail and booked on a Tennessee warrant for aggravated assault and theft of property.
There were no more charges filed in conjunction with the traffic stop.
