The Ohio Attorney General’s Office stated today that a Canton man and pastor had been indicted for stealing from the nonprofit he ran.
According to the indictment, Jamar Fleming, 41, stole around $375,000 for personal use from his non-profit Agape Ministries.
Agape Ministries provides mentorship programs to at-risk adolescents in the Canton region.
The theft is said to have occurred between June 2022 and May 2025.
Fleming was not just the organization’s CEO but also its pastor.
He is also facing allegations for failing to file tax returns in 2022, 2024, and 2025.
While he filed in 2023, he is accused of filing an incomplete, misleading, and fraudulent return that year.
The whole list of charges against Fleming and Agape Ministries is the following:
- Aggravated theft (x2)
- Telecommunications fraud (x2)
- Filing incomplete, false and fraudulent return (x3)
