A Lawrence man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison on June 12, 2026, in federal court in Boston for fentanyl distribution and possession with intent to distribute.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, Jhonatan Monegro Rosario, 37, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani to 30 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
In March 2026, Monegro Rosario pled guilty to one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
Federal prosecutors allege that Monegro Rosario trafficked thousands of counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl on the North Shore of Massachusetts over a five-month period. Investigators also discovered that Monegro Rosario had a pill press that could be used to produce massive numbers of counterfeit drugs.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, Ted E. Docks, announced the sentencing.
Assistant United States Attorneys Charles Dell’Anno and Brad A. Rocheville of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit prosecuted the case.
The case was part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative, which involved several law enforcement agencies, including HSI, FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals Service, IRS Criminal Investigation, US Postal Inspection Service, Department of Labor Office of Inspector General, and Diplomatic Security Service.
