Flash Flood Warning issued for these Kentucky and Indiana counties

Some Kentucky and Indiana counties are under a Flash Flood Warning on Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service in Louisville issued the warning for the following counties:

  • Hardin County in Kentucky until 2:30 p.m. EDT
  • Fayette County in Kentucky until 3:45 p.m. EDT
  • Marion County in Kentucky until 1:45 p.m. EDT
  • Washington County in Kentucky until 1:45 p.m. EDT
  • Southwestern Floyd County in Indiana until 1:30 p.m. EDT
  • Harrison County in Indiana until 1:30 p.m. EDT
  • Jefferson County in Kentucky until 1:30 p.m. EDT
  • Larue County in Kentucky until 1:15 p.m. EDT
  • Taylor County in Kentucky until 1:15 p.m. EDT
  • Hardin County in Kentucky until 2:30 p.m. EDT
  • Bullitt County in Kentucky until 3:15 p.m. EDT
  • Nelson County in Kentucky until 3:15 p.m. EDT
  • Jefferson County in Kentucky until 4:45 p.m. EDT

Thunderstorms are dumping heavy rain across the area, with between 1 and 5 inches already on the ground. An additional 0.5 to 2 inches could still fall. Flash flooding is either underway or expected to begin shortly, according to NWS Louisville.

Small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poorly drained and low-lying areas all face flash flooding risk.
