Man Sentenced To Life Without Parole In Prison For Killing Drug Dealer In Richardson

A Dallas County jury convicted a 34-year-old man of capital murder in the 2021 killing of a drug dealer during a hotel room robbery and returned a guilty verdict after only minutes of deliberation.

On April 27, 2026, Jennifer Balido found Hunter Lee Harmon guilty and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of release.

Prosecutors stated that the case arose from Brian Epps’ murder on December 13, 2021.

Harmon allegedly recruited two accomplices to rob Epps, whom authorities described as a narcotics dealer. According to authorities, Harmon knew the victim personally and allegedly harbored anger for him over money and the victim’s relationship with Harmon’s on-and-off girlfriend.

Prosecutors said Harmon organized the heist, loaded himself with a pistol, and drove the group to the hotel where Epps was staying.

According to prosecution testimony, when Epps answered the hotel room door, Harmon and his accomplices forced their way inside and knocked him to the floor.

Authorities said Epps attempted to protect himself with a firearm, but the weapon malfunctioned. Prosecutors claim Harmon shot Epps three times, killing him.

According to investigators, the suspects raided the hotel room, stealing drugs, cash, luxury apparel, and cell phones before fleeing.

According to authorities, surveillance footage showed the suspects entering and exiting the hotel room. Detectives from the Richardson Police Department eventually used cellphone mapping data and other investigative techniques to identify Harmon and recover the murder weapon.

Prosecutors told jurors that Harmon displayed no remorse after the crime.

The jury returned a guilty verdict after about five minutes of deliberation.

The prosecution team consisted of lead prosecutor Marissa Trevino and second-chair prosecutor Emily Antram.
