Two juveniles are facing charges after investigators looked into reports of stolen items from vehicles in McCracken County.
The investigation began on Sunday, May 3, when the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office received several complaints about valuables missing from vehicles. One victim reported that someone had smashed a car window and tampered with the door lock.
The incidents were reported in the N. Crestview Drive and Grubbs Lane area of McCracken County.
During the investigation, deputies learned that two juveniles had allegedly been running through several properties in the neighborhood overnight.
Authorities obtained surveillance footage from a residence in the area, and multiple witnesses later identified the suspects.
Deputies eventually located and interviewed the juveniles before charging them. Investigators also recovered several stolen items and returned them to their owners.
The sheriff’s office is reminding residents to lock their vehicles at night and remove valuables such as cash, bank cards, credit cards, medications and firearms from inside their cars.
