GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. — A two-vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and emergency crews responded to the intersection of US 45 North and KY 849 at 2:53 p.m. on May 6.
Investigators said 39-year-old Maria O. Garcia Rodriguez, of Hickory, was driving westbound on KY 849 in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. At the same time, 66-year-old Tony R. McReynolds, of Sedalia, was traveling southbound on US 45 in a 2011 Dodge Avenger.
GCSO said Garcia Rodriguez pulled into the path of McReynolds’ vehicle, causing the two vehicles to collide in the intersection. After the crash, Garcia Rodriguez’s vehicle left the roadway on the southwest shoulder and struck two road signs.
A passenger in McReynolds’ vehicle — 52-year-old Susan D. Gossum of Sedalia — was taken by Mayfield/Graves County EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. McReynolds later traveled to the same hospital in a private vehicle.
According to GCSO, Garcia Rodriguez was not hurt in the crash and was charged with No Operator’s License.
The Graves County Sheriff’s Office said the Melber Fire Department, Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted with the investigation.
