LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) — A court hearing for a Kentucky Powerball winner has been delayed for medical reasons. A judge said James Farthing will be allowed time to address his health concerns before returning to court.
Farthing told WKYT he had been in a coma following a jet ski accident and regained consciousness just a few days ago. He had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Monday on charges of burglary and marijuana possession.
Farthing is accused of breaking into a home on Kenesaw Drive and stealing $12,000. Authorities arrested him in the Red Mile Gaming parking lot.
In March, he pleaded guilty to battery and resisting an officer in Florida.
Farthing also faces charges in a hit-and-run case in Lexington, along with an intimidation charge in Scott County.
The preliminary hearing on the burglary and marijuana charges has been rescheduled for May 11.
